Texas High School coaches enjoy miserable Houston traffic and humidity for educational clinic

Coach Jeff Stevens, a basketball coach from Lubbock, amusingly remarked, "I always thought my timeouts were long in a basketball game, but nothing compares to the two-hour timeout I had sitting in traffic. It gave me plenty of time to reflect on the questioning of my career and decision."

Once the coaches finally arrived at the venue, they were greeted by a wall of humidity that seemed to swallow their breath and cling to their skin. Soccer coach Sarah Patterson, from Dallas, recounted her perilous journey, saying, "I walked from my car to the entrance, and the soles of my shoes actually started melting on the pavement. I've never seen anything like it. I had to wring my shirt of sweat by the time I got inside. Who in their right mind wants to live in this city?

Even local weatherman, Barry Williams, couldn't help but question the organizers' decision to hold the clinic in Houston during July. "I have to wonder why anyone would willingly choose to hold a clinic in Houston at this time of year," he said, wiping sweat off his brow. "I mean, it's like the darwins award for coaching clinics."

Despite the challenges, the coaches remained undeterred, emphasizing the importance of coaching education and continuing professional development. Coach Stevens expressed his enthusiasm, stating, "No amount of traffic or humidity could dampen my spirits.
