Texas High School coaches enjoy miserable Houston traffic and humidity for educational clinic

HOUSTON, TX – In a stunning display of dedication and resilience, high school coaches from across the Lone Star State (also known as Gods Country) are gathering in Houston for the annual Texas High School Coaches Association (THSCA), defying heavy traffic and suffocating humidity. The event, held in the midst of a scorching July, attracted passionate coaches who were eager to enhance their skills and knowledge in the high school sports profession.
As the city's notorious traffic snarled the roads, coaches found themselves caught in an automotive battle of wits. Some intrepid souls sat in their vehicles for hours, steadfastly inching forward while enjoying the view of bulldozed homeless camps. Coach Jeff Stevens, a basketball coach from Lubbock, amusingly remarked, "I always thought my timeouts were long in a basketball game, but nothing compares to the two-hour timeout I had sitting in traffic. It gave me plenty of time to reflect on the questioning of my career and decision."
Once the coaches finally arrived at the venue, they were greeted by a wall of humidity that seemed to swallow their breath and cling to their skin. Soccer coach Sarah Patterson, from Dallas, recounted her perilous journey, saying, "I walked from my car to the entrance, and the soles of my shoes actually started melting on the pavement. I've never seen anything like it. I had to wring my shirt of sweat by the time I got inside. Who in their right mind wants to live in this city?
Even local weatherman, Barry Williams, couldn't help but question the organizers' decision to hold the clinic in Houston during July. "I have to wonder why anyone would willingly choose to hold a clinic in Houston at this time of year," he said, wiping sweat off his brow. "I mean, it's like the darwins award for coaching clinics."
Despite the challenges, the coaches remained undeterred, emphasizing the importance of coaching education and continuing professional development. Coach Stevens expressed his enthusiasm, stating, "No amount of traffic or humidity could dampen my spirits. I'm here to learn from the best, to improve my coaching skills, and to bring that knowledge back to my team. It's all worth it."
The educational coaches clinic in Houston stands as a testament to the unwavering commitment of high school coaches to their craft. No amount of traffic jams or melting shoe soles could extinguish their desire to expand their expertise and provide the best coaching experience for their athletes. As the clinic progressed, coaches exchanged ideas, shared experiences, and reaffirmed their dedication to the ongoing pursuit of excellence in the high school sports arena.
